Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After completion of the subject the student understands problem of biotic invasions and their impact on ecosystems; he is able to apply knowledge in management of invasive alien plants on regional level.
Course contents:
Biotic invasions - current state of knowledge. Invasive process and its modelling. Invasive organisms - characteristics and invasive behaviour of plants. Causes of invasions and invasive behaviour of plants. Impact of invasions on ecosystems. Management strategies on different levels. Global, regional and local management. Prevention and quarantine. Containment of invasive alien plants spreading in regions. Physical, chemical and biological methods of regulation. International, european and national legislation.
