Objectives and learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students obtain a complex view on life processes in plants, understand mechanisms of basic physiological processes from subcelullar to whole plant level and principles of their regulation by external and inner factors. Practically they are able to measure basic physiological parameters of plant water status, photosynthesis, growth, etc. by use of standard methods enabling the evaluation of their physiological status.
 
Course contents:
The subject is based on the knowledge of botany, biochemistry and biophysics. It develops information on physiological processes at different structural and functional level of plant organisms. It studies mechanisms of physiological processes, their regulation, mainly functional activity of cell compartments; uptake, transport and utilization of water, mineral nutrients, synthesis and use of asimilates; photosynthetic process, respiration, growth and development, plant movements, etc.; relation of physiological processes to yield formation, source and sink principles.
