Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject offers to students basic view on physiological and metabolic processes of horticultural plant species and their reactions to external environment during their cultivation. They learn basic mechanisms and practical application of growth and development of different horticultural and ornamental plant species and woody plants useful in a practical horticulture and forestry.
Course contents:
The regulation of physiological processes of horticultural crops, in relation to genetic, enzymatic, hormonal and signaling systems. Changes in water regime, nutrition, energetic metabiolism of hoticultural crops in relationships with productivity and qualitative parameters of horticultural crops. Transport and accumulation of assimilates in horticultural crops. Utilisation of phytohormones and active compounds in horticulture. Physiological aspects of growth and development in ornamental plants. Optimizing of environmental factors in cultivation of plants in greenhouses and other protectited environments. Postahrvest physiology of horticultural products.
