Assesment methods :
The term grade will consist of continuous assessment – one written exam (20 points), presentation of semestral work (20 points) and end-of-term examination – oral exam (60 points). Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points. A student may earn units of credits in grading scale from A to E.
Objectives and learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student understands the fundamental principles, dimensions and landscape aspects of sustainable agriculture in the broader context of sustainable development. The student understands the function of agricultural biodiversity in the production of food resources. He will be able to classify and describe the agricultural systems and practices in terms of sustainability.
Course contents:
In this course, we will examine the ecological, economic and social dimension of sustainable agriculture in the context of global population growth. It will be focus on agro-ecosystems management and environmentally sound agricultural practices, green infrastructure, resilience, and accompanying biodiversity, the principles of crop rotation pattern, aspects of sustainability of agricultural systems, maintenance of soil fertility, agri-environmental indicators, ecosystem services, mitigation and adaptation to the impact of a changing climate and the issue of agricultural biodiversity and NATURA 2000 network in the agricultural landscape.
