The units forming the course syllabus:
1.Definition and content of landscape design. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Content of the landscape design as philosophy and mathodical approach to solution of ecology and social economyissues of the landscape. Form of influences and landscape changes as a result of social economy activities of man. Landscape design as reflection of alternative land use forms in historical process.
b.Seminar: Setting processes and land use forms and their influences on landscape changes, the representative human cultures.

2.Landscape and human cultures. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Human cultures and civilizations, their social economy formations as basic attribute of the different influences and landscape changes. Historical landscape structures.
b.Seminar: Human cultures of Asia, Far and Middle East, antique countries. Middle Age and New Age, the land use forms and changes. Historical development and changes of the Slovak country. Setting and land use form processes, social economy influences on landscape changes.

3.Landscape design in historical development. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Gardens and parks in history and style development in the representative human cultures. Trnasition of the garden art into the landscape space. Designed landscapes in historical development. Landmarks of ghotic, baroque and English landscape. Industrial revolution and landscape changes. From creative approach to the multispectral exploatation, transition to the philosophy of LANDEP, NEECONET, SD and rural renovation planning processes.
b.Seminar: From the garden to the country. Theoretical approaches development and practice realizaations in the landscape design. Practice examples from the world trends and from Slovakia conditions.

4.Factors and tools of landscape design. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Geography, biology, ecology, technical, economy and social aspects of the landscape design. Systeme approach, tools and ways in landscape design; abio-, bio-, and anthropogene elements.
b.Seminar: Progressive trends, international activities, national projects and legislative related to landscape design. Sustainable development philosophy, European Landscape Convention (ELC), cultural landscape regionalization.

5.Composition and aesthetic aspects of the landscape design. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Composition elements and their characteristic, spatial organization. Aesthetic principles in landscape design. Relation assessment among the composition, utility and functions of the landscape. Conflicts of interests and solutions.
b.Seminar: Spatial composition aspects of the landscape. Methods of ground plane and panoramatic form of landscape evaluation.

6.Landscape in holistic approach, the landscape image. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Dynamic and static marks of the landscape development. Landscape scenery, image and character. Culture and perception of the landscape, definition and basic content. Regional landscape types.
b.Seminar: Practical interpretation by drawing of landscape vedutes. Photo as tool for landscape panorama interpretation. Redrawing of the photos to vedute forms.

7.Assessment of landscape according to scale and size territory, landscape proposals. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Marks of landscape framework, external iage of settlement, assessment of internal image of settlement according to different marks. Definition of goals and approaches in landscape design. Analyse, synthese and proposition in landscape design.
b.Seminar: Analyse and proposals of the landscape image. Analyse of the dominants, positive and negative features and marks of the current landscape structure.

8.Vegetation as dominant tool of landscape design, vegetation structures in the landscape. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Marks and properties of vegetation as tool for landscape design. Natural, subnatural and cultural formations of landscape vegatation. Non forest woody vegetation (NFWV), function, area and spatial structure. NFWV as a part of green infrastructure and ecological network in the landscape. Woody plant species aspect in agriculture landscape design process.
b.Seminar: Proposal of spatial and woody plant content of chosen NFWV component in landscape as are water stream, water basin, road, rail way, racreation center, windbreak, infiltration belt, industrial areal etc.

9.Principles for vegetation structure design in urbanized landscape. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Historical development trends in vegetation structure designing of the urban landscape until current modern trends. Design of green areas in industrial spaces, parks, market centers and transition suburban zones of the cities. Standards of minimal equipment of the cities from view point of green spaces. Theory and content of green infrastructure in the city and rural settlements.
b.Seminar: Analyse of vegetation structure in selected city settlement. Green structure categorization according to functions, form of utilisation and space distribution in city urban structure. Idea proposition of the optimal vegetation structure in the city.

10.Principles of forest landscape design. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Theory and practice of forest aesthetic. Factors of forest aesthetic. Design and organisation of forest spaces with recreational, sport and treatment functions and utilisation. Zoning of forest recreation. Woody plant species and composition aspects in forest landscape design.
b.Seminar: Proposal of the spatial and content structure of forest recreation center in the study level.

11.Design of agricultural landscape. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Development and changes of the agricultural landscape in land use process. Positive and negative displayes. Goals and content of design and revitalization of agricultural landscape. Optimalisation and organisation of landscape structure according to different criterion. Principles of landscape architectonical designing of the agriculture farms and production objects.
b.Seminar: Analyse of spatial and content structure of chosen landscape segment and proposal of optimal landscape and vegetation structure according to defined criterion.

12.Spatial structure and composition aspects in road side vegetation designing. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Functions, composition elements and spatial structure of vegetation arrangements along the communication routes. Principles for establishment of vegetation formations, plant community and changed environment conditions, limiting criterion. Woody plant composition according to road types.
b.Seminar: Proposal of spatial and plant species composition in vegetation structure of selected road. Vegetation arrangement along with highways and supporting areas as are crossings, rest spaces etc. Project proposals in study level.

13.Vegetation arrangements along with water streams and basins. (allowance 2/2)
a.Lecture: Categorization of water streams and basins according to functions and utility values. Technical and biological approaches. Functions and zonning of bankside vegetation. Woody plant species and spatial composition aspects of bankside vegetation designing.
b.Seminar: Analyse of current stage and proposal of spatial and content structure of vegetation formations at the selected water body in the landscape.
