Assesment methods :
Preparing and presentation of project of 40 points, the final exam of 60 points. For the evaluation A it is necessary to obtain at least 93 points, for B at least 86 points, for C at least 79 points, for D at least 72 points and for the evaluation E at least 64 points.
 
Objectives and learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will acquire basic knowledge about the sources, chemical nature and effects of contaminants entering the food materials of plant and animal origin, as well as options to mitigate their toxic effects. After completion of the subject the student is able to analyse and to identify the risks of contaminants to the food chain.
 
Course contents:
Sources of contaminants entering the food materials of plant and animal origin. The distribution of contaminants according to their chemical nature and effect. Chemistry of contaminants. Synergism and antagonism of contaminants. Contaminants in food raw materials of plant and animal origin and options to mitigate their toxic effects.
