During the semester will be evaluated seminar papers and presentation, public presentation and defense of the analysis.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject is understood as a complex studio. It combines already acquired knowledge of subjects: Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape creation, Studio of park design, Landscaping and technical drawing, Spatial composition, Fundamentals of Computer Graphics - which synthesizes and builds on them and expanding them.
Subject contributes to the spread of knowledge and practical skills of students on II. degree of study program of Garden and Landscape Architecture, helps them to built teamwork / expected to work in groups / leads to the improvement of language skills and communication skills (including training) and prepares graduates for future use in a multicultural market professional environment, including through the use innovation and practices transferred from abroad teaching.
The student after ompletion of the course will understand the principles of public and recreational space, he can solve selected area and can apply knowledge in designing functions, traffic, supplements. Student is able analyze territory and he can identify user requirements.
Course contents:
The history of spaces for recreation in the urban structures and current possibilities for recreation in the cities and contact zones. Public spaces in urban structures. Terminology, Definitions, typology of public open spaces. The basic standards and criteria. Recreation in the forest and country, general information, laws and legislation, trends. Assessment of recreational potential of the landscape – different methods and approaches. Analytical methods and their integration. Evaluation and interpretation. Application in practice – spatial planning. Compositional principles and design of spaces for recreation. Trends Affecting Outdoor Recreation. Public spaces in history and current importance in Urban Structure in the context of spatial planning. The Importance for social development and the promotion of social ties. Compositional principles of the paths connection, the principles of creation of educational trails. Design in the urban environment. Sustainable design. The current situation. New approaches in the development of public space – differences between urban and rural settlement. Examples of modern and efficient public spaces. The importance of recreation and leisure in society. The impact of recreation on the environment.
