Assesment methods :
During the semester will be measurement, processing and presentation of the laboratory seminar works per 40 points and the final writing exam per 60 points. Student can get grade A (excellent) after obtaining at least 93 points, grade B (very good) at least 86 points, grade C (good) at least 79 points, grade D (satisfactory) at least 72 points and grade E (sufficient) at least 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students acquire knowledge about basic modern laboratory techniques. Students are able to measure by basic physical laboratory methods, what they demonstrate by elaboration of written reports.
After completion of the subject the student is able to measure physical parameters, student is able to apply knowledge in practice, absolvent is able to choose the optimal measurement technique, analyse the measurement accuracy and interpret the measurement results.
Course contents:
Measurement of physical values. Determination of measurement uncertainties. Conductance and dielectric methods of moisture content measurement. Properties of liquids measurement. Measurement of liquids surface tension. Concentration of solutions measurement by optical methods. Density of liquids and solids measurement. Electronic measurement of temperature. Properties of gases measurement. Mechanical properties of biological material measurement. Methods: mass spectrometry, electron spectroscopy, spectral analysis, TDR - time domain reflectometry, GPR - ground penetrating radar, NIR - near infrared spectroscopy, Doppler vibrometry, ...
