During the semester there will be 2 written tests with 20 points, written final exam for 60 points. To obtain A evaluation must be obtained at least 93 points for the evaluation of B at least 86 points, C rating on at least 79 points for the evaluation of at least 72 points D and E on the evaluation of at least 64 points
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject provides information about the effects of toxic substances on various animals organ systems. The subject describes the structural and functional changes in various organs according to the mechanism of action and target of action. The student will understand the general principle of toxic effect on animal systems. The student obtains basic knowledge of identification, symptomatology and prevention of the most popular toxicants.
Course contents:
Toxicology is a multidisciplinary science, standing on the edge of several areas in particular, chemistry and medicine. Subject focuses on examining the negative effect of chemical compounds on living organisms. It is closely related to the pharmacology. Toxicology deals with the immediate effects of the compound on the organism. Describes the toxicity, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, and the like. General toxicology section discusses the relationship between the chemical and its toxic effects on living organisms. Has much in common with the general pharmacology, because the difference between toxic and pharmacological effects in many cases only quantitative. Poison and medicine differ from each other only benefit.
