Assesment methods :
The term grade will consist of continuous assessments two written exams (15 points each) and end of term examination will comprise of written exam (70 points).

Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points,
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student acquires the knowledge on relationships between information molecules (DNA, RNA) and proteins when genetic information is transfered. Work with chromosomes number and morphology analysis, evaluates heredity traits on cell, organism and population level, acquires new knowledge on varieties and hybrids breeding process using the classic and modern methods.
Course contents:
The aim and history of genetics. Information molecules and heridity (structure and function of DNA, RNA, gene and control of activity of gene). Cell and heridity (genetic significance of mitosis and meiosis, chromosomes, gamatogenesis and fertilization). Inheritance of organism (nuclear, non-nuclear inheritance, mendelian inheritance, gene mutation, plant genetic engineering). Population genetics and evolution. The case of breeding, breeding ideotypes and objectives. Conventional breeding methods. Registration, propagation and maintenance of varieties.
