Assesment methods :
Two written tests for 15 points during the semester (totally 30 points), semester work (10 points). Final combined exam for 60 points (written - 30 points, oral - 30 points).
To obtain evaluation "A" at least 93 points must be obtained, for evaluation "B" at least 86 points must be obtained, for "C" at least 79 points, for "D" at least 72 points and for evaluation "E" at least 64 points must be obtained. Student receives credit for the subject in the case of evaluation with mark from A to E.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The students will gain deep knowledge on progressive breeding systems of small ruminants, at different specialization, intensity of breeding and economic conditions.
They will gain competence of rational management of sheep and goat farms.
Course contents:
Characteristics of intensive, semi-intensive and extensive sheep and goat production in different orientations (milk, meat, wool, mohair, cashmere, combined yield). Management of sheep and goat farms, breeding year, rational ways of rearing lambs and kids, sheep and goats of different categories during the winter housing and summer grazing; turnover of herd. Characteristics and use of advanced technology systems of housing, feeding, milking, watering and shearing. Economic aspects of breeding. The students complement the theoretical knowledge by studying of technological lines directly on farms.
