Assesment methods :
Within semester students will write 2 tests each per 20 points. Presentation of case studies for 10 points and written examination 60 points. Max. 100 points. To achieve A is necessary to obtainted min. 93 points, B min. 86 points, C min. 79 points, D min. 72 points and to achieve evaluation E min 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of this course is to familiarize students to different facets of the bioeconomy. These include the origins of the bioeconomy the different scientific and technological determinants of the contemporary bioeconomy, the status of the sometimes lauded, sometimes decried biotechnology revolution, the sustainability paradigms that are associated with the bioeconomy, the growth of biobusiness, and the economic impact on countries and regions. The foundations of the bioeconomy will also include the role of citizens as co-creators of social innovation, and the geography of innovation and human resources. By the end of the course students will have knowledge and understanding of key definitions and theories about what the bioeconomy means.

Course contents:
Course content includes issues of bioeconomics, perspectives of a bioeconomics, vision and objectives for a biobased economy, ensuring sustainable agriculture production, securing global nutrition, producing health and safe foods, useage of the renewable resources for industry, developing biomass-based energy carriers, biomass production and energy utilization of biomass in Slovak Republic, bioenergy and sustainability, renewable energy- biomass, bioliquids and biofuels, costs and production function in Bio-Economy- removing the limitations of Cobb Douglas function, using a bio-economic models to assess the cost – effectiveness of measures against nitrogen pollution, integration of bio-economic farm modeling for biodiversity assessment at landscape level, economics of biogas plants algae biofuels: versatility for the future of bioenergy.
