Assesment methods :
Project preparation and presentation valued by 30 points, the final exam valued by 70 points. To pass the trial marked as A, it is necessary to obtain at least 93 points , in the case of B trial at least 86 points, trial C at least 79 points, trial D at least 72 points and finally trial E at least 64 points, respectively.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
A student knows how to quantify mechanisms of crop production process and yield formation, its principles and requirements related to environmental limiting factors. He(she) knows how to identify reasons of decrease of physiological processes as related to biomass production in field conditions as a consequence of harmful environmental factors and optimalize them to reach planned (suggested) yield production. He(she) understands how to apply methods of photosynthesis measurements, growth analyses, microclimate analysis and fundamental eco-physiological methods to measure growth processes and biomass production including the primary processes of photosynthesis. He(she) knows how to calculate the parameters of efficiency of growth-production process from the obtained analytical data, such as radiation use efficiency (RUE), nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and water use efficiency (WUE).
Course contents:
The course defines principal factors and determination of crop production process in field and regulated conditions. It gives knowledge on time and space-dependent regulation of canopy structure, efficiency of water, sun energy, mineral nutrients use and growth and developmental processes, competitive relationships among plants in a canopy and a feedback response of photosynthetic assimilates source to sink component of a production process. Functional traits and physiological principles of yield components formation together with analysis of a microclimate to be able to do a systemic analyses and modelling plant / crop production process.
