Assesment methods :
Project preparation and presentation valued by 40 points, the final exam valued by 60 points. To pass the trial marked as A, it is necessary to obtain at least 93 points , in the case of B trial at least 86 points, trial C at least 79 points, trial D at least 72 points and finally trial E at least 64 points, respectively.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After complition of the subject the student understands physiological and agrochemical principles of uptake, transport and utilization of nutrients in soil-plant system as essential precondition for growth, development and yield forming.
Course contents:
Soil factors and their influence on nutrient uptake. Mass flow, diffusion, root structure and absorption of nutrients by root system. Transport of ions (nutrients) through membranes.Transport proteins. Homeostasis and ionic balance in plant. Distribution of ions and pH regulation. Ionic composition of plant cells and tissues. Ionic signalization and regulation of ion balance. Long distance transport of mineral nutrients.Transport by xylem. Transport by floem. Basic and optimal levels of nutrients in plants. Fundamental physiological and biochemical functions of essential elements (nutrients)in plants.
