Assesment methods :
During the semester there will be 2 written tests in 15 points, semester project and its presentation in 10 points and a final written exam in 60 points. To obtain A mark will be needed to obtain at least 93 points, for the evaluation of B mark at least 86 points, C mark at least 79 points, for the evaluation of D mark at least 72 points and for the evaluation of E mark at least 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will understand the basic knowledge from the field of creation, detection and using of genetically modified foods produced from a plants, animals and microbial origin. The student is able to apply knowledge in laboratory practice and research.
Course contents:
Creating recombinant DNA, their transformation to a host cell and analysis of transformants. Targeted gene expression, transgenic organisms, basic principles of genetic engineering of plants, animals and microorganisms. Practical use of genetically modified microorganisms (GMM), plants (GMP) and animals (GMA). Methods for evaluating the quality and safety of GMM, GMP and GMA. Legislative aspects of production and use of genetically modified foods.
