Assesment methods :
During the semester there will semester project and its presentation in 40 points and a final written exam in 60 points. To obtain A mark will be needed to obtain at least 93 points, for the evaluation of B mark at least 86 points, C mark at least 79 points, for the evaluation of D mark at least 72 points and for the evaluation of E mark at least 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire the new knowledge about the complexity of genomes as well as about the relationships of genes in the genomes of organisms. Understand the importance of genomics and systematic interventions to the genome in non-cellular biological systems, prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. After the course a student is able to apply knowledge in laboratory practice and in research.
Course contents:
Information molecules non-cellular biological systems, prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Genomics of viruses, bacteria, plants, animals and humans. Size and organization of the genome, gene and its structure. Analysis of the structure and function of genes. Techniques and methods of genomics. Bioinformatics. Writing and sequencing data formats. Search for information in databases (GenBank, EMBL, DDBJ). Analyses of biomolecules sequences using bioinformatics tools.
