Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After the completion of the subject the student is able to apply knowledge in evaluation and assessment of diversity of species in different habitats and conservation of biodiversity in a rural landscape considering the sustainable and integrated land use in conditions of Slovakia.
Course contents:
Factors influencing biodiversity (both positive and negative) in stess conditions. Dynamics of biological diversity on level of populations, communities and landscape. Assessment of biodiversity (alpha-, beta-, gamma, delta-diversita) monitoring. Impacts of human activities on biodiversity. Management of biological diversity in rural landscape (arable land, grasslands, forests, wetlands etc.). Agri-environmental programs. Management of biodiversity in human settlements. Social-economic importance of biological diversity. Legislation, international conventions, strategic documents. Trends and scenarios in biodiversity conservation.
