Learning outcomes of the course unit:
to explain main objectives of EU land law
to explain broad complex of legal regulations related to land law in Slovakia in the context of the EU
to discuss the impact of the EU on the land law in Slovakia
to explain barriers of insufficient implementation of legal regulation related to land use in Slovakia
Land law in Slovakia has among the EU countries one of the most complicated and uncoordinated legal regulation. There is a gap of experts who are able to explain and summarize land law in Slovakia.
 to obtain knowledge and competences about EU land law and Slovak land law
 to understand complicated legal regulation of the land in Slovakia
 gain practical knowledge related decision-making process related to land
 express professional opinion on specific topics related to soil protection in the EU
Course contents:
1. Introduction to the European Union and EU legislation
2. Functioning of the EU legislation
3. Policies of the EU, EU land law
4. Agricultural multifunctionality and Europe,s new land debate
5. Land law in Slovakia in the context of EU land law
6. Land fragmentation – problem of EU land policy
7. Decision-making related to land
8. Future challenges of the land law in the EU and Slovakia
9. Individual research work commonly prepared by students on EU land law problems
