Assesment methods :
Final written exam (60 points), home assignments (20 points), paper (20 points). To pass the course it is necessary to receive at least 64 points out of 100.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The graduate of the course will be able to evaluate the reasons behind international trade and impacts of international trade on households, firms and welfare. After taking this course students will have skills to use various quantitative methods to assess effects of trade. Students will learn theory and empirical methods for evaluation of trade policies and economic integration.
Course contents:
Two-Sector Models: Ricardian model of comparative advantages, The Heckscher-Ohlin Model, Increasing Returns and the Gravity Equation, Gains from Trade and Regional Agreements, Import Tariffs and Dumping, Import Quotas and Export Subsidies, Political Economy of Trade Policy, Trade and Endogenous Growth, Multinationals and Organization of the Firm
