Assesment methods :
The term grade will consist of continuous assessment – one written exam (25 points), seminar work (10 points),laboratory protocol (5 points) and end-of-term examination will comprise written exam (60 points).
Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points,
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will gain knowledge about the importance of modern plant biotechnology in agriculture. He / she will gain practical experience in establishing experiments of plant tissue cultures in in vitro conditions and application of molecular markers of evaluation of genetic stability and variability.
Course contents:
Plant cell totipotency and plant biotechnology. The genetic nature of variability in plants tissue culture. Epigenetic mechanisms of plant variability. Molecular markers in plant biotechnology. Production of secondary metabolites of plants by application of biotechnology. Application of biotechnology in plant treatment.Genomics and bioinformatics in plant biotechnologies.
