Assesment methods :
The term grade will consist of continuous assessment – one written exams (10 points); presentation of case study - seminar work (30 points) and end-of-term examination – oral exam (written exam) (60 points).
Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points,
A student may earn units of credits in grading scale from A to E.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The students graduated in this subject will gain knowledge on mode and technical feasibilities oriented on the biodiversity conservation; preservation of plant genetic resources for nutrition and agriculture in several different forms - in situ, ex situ, in vitro, on farm, and their parts like seeds, buds, pollen grains and/or DNA isolated in the gene banks; the economic evaluation of plant genetic resources; traits classification and genetic resources characteristics; use of plant genetic resources for nutrition, agriculture and countryside development, landscape formation and in other branches; knowledge on international and national legislation; genetic resources utilization for socio-economic development of small and middle-large agricultural and processing enterprises and/or family farms;
Course contents:
Creation and spreading of plants in evolutional process, biological diversity sources and their evaluation, genepool as cultural heritage of nature and mankind, sources and reasons of genetic erosion, methods and forms of genepool preservation, structure and activities of gene banks, methods of genepool evaluation, applied information systems, national and international legislation, national and international programs, programs of genepool preservation and practical use.
