Assesment methods :
The term grade will consist of continuous assessment – laboratory protocol (10 points), semestral work (10 points) and end-of-term examination will comprise oral and written parts (60 points).
Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points. A student may earn units of credits in grading scale from A to E.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire the knowledge and ability to identify weeds in various forms (seed, seedlings, adult plant). Weed seeds can identify the size, shape, texture and color. Able to deal with basic methods and weed control options and apply in agricultural practice.
Course contents:
Basic characteristics of weeds. The system weeds clasified their system by way of nutrition, reproduction, life cycle and biological properties (Hron-Vodák, 1959; modified Smatana - Týr, 2011). Determination weed infestation sources. Actively exploring the weed species. Actual weed infestation (methodological principles for the evaluation). Herbicides their division into basic groups. The distribution of herbicides in terms of action, physical treatment, toxicity, etc. Dates and applications of herbicides. Evaluate the effect of herbicides. Field exercises are carried out on the VPP SPU, s.r.o. Kolíňany.
