test, seminar work - Partial written test during the semester for 35 points, - Seminary project and individual project tasks via LMS Moodle (bonus) for 15 points, - The final exam test for 50 points. It is necessary to obtain (out of 100 points): - at least 93 points for the grade A, at least 86 points for the grade B, at least 79 points for the grade C, at least 72 points for the grade D and at least 64 points for the grade E. | |||||||||||||

Learning outcomes of the course unit: | |||||||||||||

The student will understand studied math terms and apparatus of mathematics and statistics, will be able to apply them in solving practical problems and issues of professional practice. Graduate will be able to do procedures and perform estimation of solution of a practical problem, to use logical thinking and acquired skills of analysis, synthesis, deduction and abstraction. Acquired knowledge will be used in the study of special subjects as well as in the elaboration of the bachelor thesis with outputs from mathematical statistics. | |||||||||||||

Course contents: | |||||||||||||

Introduction. Numbers and sets. Scientific notation of number.
Solving equations and inequalities. Matrices and systems of linear equations. Elementary functions and their use. The investigation of features and graphs of functions. Features and models of real situations. Mathematical apparatus of differential calculus with application in chemistry and biology. Applied tasks. Solving problems via mathematical software. Basics of financial mathematics. Simple interest. Compound interest. The calculation of current and future value of capital. Basic concepts of descriptive statistics. Statistical sample, statistical unit, statistical sign. Interpretation of results, graphs and charts in MS Excel. Measurements position: arithmetic and geometric mean, median, mode. Rate variability: variance, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation. Summary of curriculum and information about final test. | |||||||||||||
