The granting of credit in the subject will be based on completion of all exercises and seminars.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Third grade students will become knowledges with the use of molecular and biochemical methods for the identification of microorganisms in different environments. New methods for the identification of microorganisms called. uncultivable microorganisms (indirect method). The student can identify microorganisms and track their activity with the latest biochemical and molecular methods (classical PCR, Real Time PCR, fluorescence microscopy, mass spectrometry).
Course contents:
1. Characterization and demonstration of real time PCR and fluorescence microscopy. (4 hrs.)
2. Characteristics and demonstration of mass spectrometry (MALDI TOF MS BioTyper). (4 hrs.)
3. The use of biochemical tests for the identification of microorganisms. (3 hrs.)
4. Viewed antimicrobial activity microorganisms resistance. (3 hrs.)
