The term grade will consist of continuous assessment – one written exam (30 points), semestral work (10 points) and end-of-term examination (60 points).
Grading scale: letter grade A requires minimum 93 points, letter grade B requires minimum 86 points, letter grade C requires minimum 79 points, letter grade D requires minimum 72 points, letter grade E requires minimum 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student will acquire the knowledge about the structure and composition of the genome. Student will understand the meaning of genomic and others omics sciences. Student will learn to use the bioinformatic databases and to apply the tools of bioinformatics for comparative and evolutional studies of organisms.
|Information value of nucleic acids. Genome size and C-value paradox. Organization and structure of the genome. Techniques and methods of genomics. Annotation of the genome. Content and significance of omic sciences. Bioinformatics. Bioinformation databases and tools. Phylogenetic studies.|
