Summary:The main goal of the bachelor thesis was to analyse state of the consumer semi-fat milk supply chain in the Slovak Republic in the monitored period 2002-2013(first half) with accent on price relations. We have set these sub-objectives: analysis of development of producer, processor and retail prices along the food chain; analysis of producer price with respect to average production costs; analysis of competitiveness of Slovak Milk with respect to Hungary and Poland; analysis of consumer price's structure in terms of margins and estimation of character of price transmission. The used computation methods were CPL -- coefficient of comparable price level; EPT -- coefficient of elasticity of price transmission and coefficient of determination in simple regression models, needed for detection of price transmission sensitiveness on polarity of price shocks among particular market levels. We have gained several key results. During recession 2009 retail prices behaved most independently related to other market levels that may refer to APT due to its market power. After price depression in 2009, processor price did not recover so far and retail price strengthened. Milk production is unprofitable without subsidies, and moreover gap between producer price and costs has enlarged after 2008. Average gap between them presented 0,109 eur/kg since 2009. Further, CPL coefficient showed that the Slovak milk is not competitive in examined neighbouring markets - Hungarian and Polish; and in the domestic market has been competitive just in certain time periods. As for margins, producer as well as retail share has been shrinking over the monitored years. Even if semi-fat consumer milk presents low value-added dairy product, producer share covers in average the smallest percentage share on consumer price (14,83%), while retail overtakes the biggest one (64,10%). Although logical assessment of figures indicates presence of market power of retail and APT, used econometric methods proved symmetric price transmission in the food chain. Sale of milk reacts more sensitively to negative shocks of production of milk that denies positive APT, harmful for consumers.
