Title of the thesis:Applications of thermophysical measurement methods for detection of selected bio-based materials thermophysical properties
Summary:This habilitation thesis deals with theoretical parts of thermodynamics which can be applied in various types of thermophysical parameters measurement. Selected methods of measurement as Hot Wire method and Dynamic Plane Source method respectively Extended version of Dynamic Plane Source method were used for detection of thermophysical parameters of some bio-based materials. There were measured samples of food materials such as: flours, flakes, milk and milk products; agricultural materials (different types of grains) and products which contain biological components made from agricultural materials (biofuels and biooils). All presented results were obtained during long time experimental work at the laboratories of Department of Physics, SUA in Nitra. Habilitation thesis is divided into five parts. First chapter presents selected parts of the thermodynamics theory, theoretical basics of temperature measurement and thermophysical parameters measurements. Second part presents principles of the transient methods as: Hot wire method, Pulse transient method, Step -- wise transient method, Transient plane source technique, Extended dynamic plane source method and Hot strip method. In the third part are described information about methods of thermophysical parameters calculations, identification of the measurement accuracy, data of reliability, sensitivity coefficients and there are presented criteria of ideal model usage. Fourth part presents description of Isomet 2104, basic characteristics and its measurement principle. Last fifth part deals with selected results of thermophysical parameters measurements which are presented in tables and graphs for each sample of measured materials. Presented results are dependencies of thermophysical parameters as: thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and volume specific heat to the temperature, moisture content and fat content. From obtained results is evident that thermophysical parameters are one type of physical parameters which can determine the status of the bio-based material. This fact is very useful in agriculture and food industry for detection of materials quality. Thermophysical parameters are significant characteristics which can be used for improving of the technologic processes, thermal processing of bio-based materials and their storage conditions. Presented facts shows that thermophysical research applied on bio-based materials used in agriculture and food industry is very important because materials goes through the thermal manipulation during harvest, storage and processing to final products.
