Title of the thesis:
Utilisation of the best available techniques in technological and technical modernisation in selected farms
Environmental pollution resulting from miscellaneous human actions had been taking place for a long time now. Said process had been escalating in past decades; posing a serious threat and causing perceptible damage to the most vulnerable -- the biological -- components of the land, and therefore affecting the health of the population in an undesirable way. Global livestock production, as a principal source of greenhouse gas emissions, can be considered even greater global warming contributor than the transport industry. The amount of livestock production emissions is expected to increase in the future. According to the UN FAO, the economic expansion of developing countries accompanied with increasing demand for meat, indicates a growing importance of the livestock production greenhouse gas emissions issue. As a result of said facts, it was essential for measures to be taken in order to reduce negative globalization and industrial impact on the environment. The Directive 2008/1/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 January 2008 concerning integrated pollution prevention and control belongs to the most important legal acts concerning environmental protection. It presents a breakthrough attitude to the environmental protection issue. Considering the optimal level of protecting the environment as a whole, attention should be focused on implementing the best available techniques (BAT). The objective of the thesis is the evaluation of selected agricultural companies, regarding integrated pollution prevention and control and BAT. The thesis is focused mainly on farm modernization, as well as the deployment of innovations and new technology.
