Title of the thesis:Innovations in municipalities of the cities Považská Bystrica and Prievidza
Summary:The main aim of the diploma thesis was to evaluate innovation and innovation activities in municipalities of the cities Považská Bystrica and Prievidza. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part we defined the basic terms related to the topic of the work. It is the definition of the terms innovation, innovation potential, innovation strategy, innovation process and innovation typology. Next, we examined the EU's innovation policy, innovation strategy of SR and innovation in the public sector in Slovakia. In the practical part we focused on the general characteristics of the selected cities. Using method of questioning through interview, which aim was to identify and analyze the status and level of implementation of innovative tools and innovations to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of services provided by local government, we evaluate innovation background in municipalities of selected cities. Furthermore, we have identified implemented innovation and reviewed innovation process of selected innovations. Based on the results of the interview, we identified shortcomings in the local governments and propose recommendations to improve the current state of innovation activity of municipalities. From the results of the research we found out, that the very innovative capacity of the cities is very low. It is difficult to require the support of innovation, as long as there is not a background on their developing. Due to financial and time-consuming difficulty of the own development of innovation, cities are forced to cooperate in this field with other institutions and professional organizations. It seems necessary to increase the awareness-raising campaigns, improving the quality of education of the population in terms of innovation, exchange of experiences, improving and making available the technical infrastructure in the field of ICT and e-government.
Key words:innovation, innovation potential, Innovation strategy, innovation process, innovation typology
