Title of the thesis:Evaluation of reproduction in German Shepherds breeding in Slovakia in 1996 - 2015
Summary:The aim of our diploma thesis Evaluation of reproduction in German Shepherds breeding in Slovakia in 1996 - 2015 was to analyse the origin and history of the German Shepherd in Slovakia. We also focused on the overall development of the wolf to dog, the breeds founder, where we found out that it was the dog called Hektor von Linksrhein, whose owner, Max Emil Friedric von Stephanit renamed him to Horand von Grafrath. Then we dealt with the issue of the usage, great versatility and standard of the breed. The following and important chapter dealt with the most common diseases affecting German shepherd , which are, for example, hip dysplasia , elbow joint dysplasia , arthritis, gastric torsion , and last, but not least, the cataract . In the frame of the basic training , we drew attention to the important exercises that must be managed by the German shepherd. In following chapters we focused on exterior behavior , recovery and nutrition . The last part of the thesis was a practical one, namely the results and discussion that analyses the breeding of German Shepherd in Slovakia from 1996 until 2015. The analysis comprises the numbers of born puppies with pedigree in Slovakia and placed into breeding, in the ratio between dogs and bitches , the number of registered births and we are also focused on the nexus between imported and exported puppies from and to Slovakia. We compared the number of successful individuals within the exhibitions of the period 2011 to 2015.
