Title of the thesis:Biology, systematics of giraffe species and conditions of their breeding in captivity
Summary:This bachelor thesis deals with general biological data of giraffes living in open air and knowing of interactivity among individual factors affecting life existence of these animals, subsequent practical aplication of which is necessary and needed to arrange appropriate conditions for breeding in captivity. This thesis works also with the definition of recently varied nomenclature of species and subspecies of giraffes, being slowly vindicated by general specialised public. Within Union of czech and slovak zoos, it was the zoo of the czech capital – Prague, which first started to use new nomenclature during previous year, in spite of criticism recieved at commission for breeding of giraffes, antelopes, camels and equidae at the turn of may 2017 and june 2017 in Olomouc. The conclusion follows on the first part of the thesis and draws attention to standards of condition of breeding of giraffes in captivity, take account of which contributes significantly to raising the level of welfare and improvement of fitness of bred individuals, which will be certainly appreciated on the first sight by many visitors.
