Determine the intensity of wind erosion in the cadastral area of Šaľa
Abstrakt:
The soil is one of the oldest resource which was ensuring livelihood for people. Later it became a work implement and it was a factor which determine the position of human in the society. In the past the meaning of the land was an outpost for plants meaning that plants take root in the soil and provided two basic living conditions for plants nutrients and water. With the development of the society the knowledge about soil has changed and nowadays The Council of Europe in the recommendation of R 92 8 about the soil protection defines as follows: The soil is an integral part of Earth's ecosystems, situated between the surface and the parent rock. It is divided into horizons with specific physical, chemical and biological characteristics and with different functions. The soil is characterized by two main features: natural - historical and production-social. The main mission of it to ensure the existence and reproduction of the life on Earth. Without a sustainable use of the soil there is no chance to have a sustainable development of the nature, nor the sustainable development of economical and of the social parameters in the society. The aim of this diploma work is to learn about the soil - environmental parameters of the territory, about the organization of the soil fund on selected area, determine the intensity of wind erosion, become familiar with an effects of wind erosion and identify the way of elimination based on the available analyses. An interested area was an agricultural soil farmed by the Roľnícke družstvo in Šaľa. We were collecting information from the available written documents, from documents obtained from the Roľnícke družstvo in Šaľa, from the relevant maps and field surveys. With the help of the collected information we performed an analyses and characterized the natural conditions the soil - environmental parameters, the current organization of the land resources, production- economical parameters of the soil, anthropogenic influences but mostly we were focused on a soil degradation by wind erosion. The current structure of the country reflects the intensive use of natural landscapes by human. The result of the anthropogenic activity in the country is the formation of semi natural and artificial elements, which with natural elements complete the overall mosaic of the landscape structure. Soil from the interesting area belongs to primary agricultural land. These lands have a very good quality. There are 16 valuated soil-ecological units in that mentioned area. The most-represented is BPEJ with a code 0024004 with an area of 973.34 hectares, presents 26.50%. They are highly productive soils, without skeleton and they are very deep soils - more than 60 cm. Arable lands farmed by RD Šaľa are highly profitable. Less productive are light grit, which are drying up under the current conditions in low rainfall, especially in the summer months. All land units meet the criteria in terms of delimitation of soil types. Such area is the most suitable for the production of selected types of crops. The soil is used in agriculture intensively. It also deals with degradation processes in the area of interest. Relief of the discussed are is a plane. Out of the of the climatic factors the main erosion factor is the wind. The direction of the wind in most cases is northwest. Only 11% of the days during a year is calm. It is about 778, 7 ha of arable land which is compromised by wind erosion. It is mainly on light soils without a sufficient vegetation cover. The harmful effects of wind erosion helps to eliminate windbreaks, vegetation barriers, suitably oriented land units and properly selected agrotechnics.
