Title of the thesis:
Direct payments in Slovak Republic
The Common agricultural policy is one of the main policies within European Community, which came into existence in 1962. It is a policy focused on the agricultural subsidies in the European Union. It presents the body of rules and principles modifying the production, processing and the sale of the agricultural products. The Common Agricultural Policy has gone through different periods since its formation and thus it became more effective. The Slovak Republic joined the CAP in 2004, when it became a member of the European Union. The greatest change in terms of agricultural subsidies brought so called Luxembourg Reform, which orientates more on the customers and the tax payers, yet at the same time it allows farmers to choose freely which products they want to produce. The integral parts of the Common Agricultural Policy are subsidies in the forms of direct payments. The direct payments are funded from the resources of the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund and from the state budget of the Slovak Republic. Nowadays, the direct payments are paid on the area, which means they are not dependent on the production volume. To pay the direct payments to the farmers, they must observe a number of terms, which are introduced under the title "cross compliance". In the bachelor thesis, I analyzed the direct payments according to individual categories, which have a substantial influence on the agricultural production; I studied the terms which must be observed and the reforms for the following years 2014 -- 2020.
Key words:Common Agricultural Policy, direct payments, single area payment
