Title of the thesis:Round-leaved sundew as medicinal plant with biotechnologic potential
Summary:The Bachelor thesis is the summarization of knowledge on carnivorous plants with emphasis on the round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia L.). The work is thematically divided into two parts. The first part is focused on the characterization of carnivorous plants. The individual ways used by plants to catch and mechanisms of digestion of trapped prey are described in more details. Carnivorous plants are known as producers of secondary metabolites, which have found their use in the pharmaceutical industry. The second part is dealt with the detailed characterization sundew plant and its occurrence in the world and in Slovakia. The mechanisms of the prey trapping and digestion are described in more details. Round-leaved sundew is pharmacologically interesting as a producer of secondary metabolites, which have antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and anticancer effects. They act beneficially in respiratory diseases - asthma, bronchial infection, pertussis, tuberculosis. New biotechnological methods enable us to cultivate sundew plant under in vitro conditions and ensure its enough quantity for commercial production of secondary metabolites. Their amount depends on the culture conditions, therefore, it is the effort to optimize their.
