Summary: This thesis focuses on cryptocurrencies. At the beginning it explains what cryptocurrency is and how is it different from fiat money, main areas of significance of cryptocurrency for the economy and a brief definition of the technology of block chain. Thesis is analysing cryptocurrencies bitcoin, Ethereum and litecoin. These are described in terms of their origin, emission, circulation, price development and process of mining. The thesis evaluates the risk of cryptocurrencies based on individual price data.
