Project description:
The breeding of dairy ewes is currently main breeding intention not only in Slovakia but also in other countries. Milk is thus play crucial role in the economy's of farms. The price of milk is influenced by many factors, which seems to be the most important quality reflecting primarily the health of the mammary gland - mastitis. At present, the health of the udder in connection with mastitis is note evaluated because there are not clear physiological criteria for assessing of the health of the udder as it is the case in cows. Udder health status is a risk not only for the consumer, the processor itself but also for the farmer. The project addresses the current state of udder health through microbiological monitoring of bulk milk tanks of as many farms.
