Genetic evaluation of show-jumping and diversity with use of genomic information of horses with national importance in SlovakiaSupervisor: prof. Ing. Radovan Kasarda, PhD.
This page shows details on the project. The primary projects are displayed together with a list of sub-projects.
Use of molecular markers for improvement of genetic evaluations is a major topic in animal breeding. Application of marker information in combination with genomic selection has been suggested also for the horses. Use of genetic technologies allowing for genotyping of different number and types of markers from micro-satellites to SNP. Traditional breeding values and genomic breeding values will be combined making proper use of all information. The profit of converted penalty points, profit of penalty points and ranking in the competition will be used as the measures describing horse show-jumping performance. Analysis of diversity on level of whole genome and in case of breeds with national importance also evaluation of genetic erosion degree and possible admixture with other breeds.
