Project description:Siltation of the water basins is the common phenomen in the conditions of Slovakia. Dynamics of this phenomen is consequent to the several factors, which affects the accumulation of the sediments in the basins ant that leads to the change of the surface shape of the water basin bottom. Current solution of the measuring of the shape of the water basin bottom is in the direct measuring of the depth from the water level to the bottom, whereas this measuring is fairly time-consuming. This project deals with the proposal of the methodology of the digital terrain model (DTM) of the water basin bottom in raster format, which is based on the collecting of the input data with the GPS and sonar measuring. The usability of the DTM is in the applications on the platform of the geographical information systems (GIS). The knowledge of the basin bottom surface shape allows us to solve the variety of the tasks, such as the assessment of the sediment quantity in the water basin, or the calculation of the actual water capacity of the basin and these two applications are solved in this project.
