Kvalita biologického materiálu pre účely kryouchovávania živočíšnych genetických zdrojov

Supervisor: prof. Ing. Peter Chrenek, DrSc.

Basic information

This page shows details on the project. The primary projects are displayed together with a list of sub-projects.

Project description:The use of stem cells appears as suitable for preserving endangered animal species (breeds) as the cryopreservation of sperm or embryos. An effective cryopresevation of biological material of certain species of livestock is not yet fully mastered. The related issues are viability and reduced quality of frozen/thawed livestock sperm and embryos. The aim of this project is to optimize the methodology of obtaining, cryopreservating and evaluating the quality of livestock breeds, which are considered endangered or their populations are at risk according to the numbers of individuals. Our results could be utilized to optimize the techniques of freezing, while expanding the livestock gene bank by two breeds – Nitra rabbit and Zobor rabbit.
